The town of Childress, located on Hwy 287 and roughly between Amarillo and Wichita Falls, hosts five sites with water (depending on the season) and electric hook ups. We have stayed at the campground several times. There is a nice trail around a pond, allowing for a nice stroll, which we saw the locals do during the day. A Portapotty and large trash bins are found here as well, however no dump station. Cell/WiFi is excellent. No road noise was observed but we did hear a few trains go by in the distance during the night. Fee to stay here is $15 per night with a 3 day limit. Fair enough; Thank you Childress but on we go; Scouting Destinations.
